Get Local Branding and UI Design
This project was a part of the BFA Senior Graphic Design Exhibition, Revisionaries.
Get local is a non-profit organization that helps and promote minority-owned businesses growing in Charlotte. The mission of the organization is to raise Charlotte citizens’ awareness of these businesses and to educate minorities about professional practices such as starting and maintaining a business, seeking grants or loans, and developing a social media presence.
The logo ‘mark’ is comprised of three main ideas represented by represented by abstracted images: The architectural/building reference represents the physical businesses while the heart represents the supportive nature of the organization, and the bubble suggests social connection essential to any successful business. To give the logo an appealing humanistic quality, a hand-crafted style is applied to the type and image treatment.
The branding also includes a promotional typographic video, posters and a website layout. These works are used to promote and inform people of Get Local. The design throughout these pieces are showing the friendly, organic and humanistic feeling I experienced in most local businesses I have been to. The illustrations of objects as the background, warm color palette and the handwritten qualities are what help communicate the idea of what local businesses are.
